Map Contour Dialog Box

Contour File
field and push button
Select the SYBYL (.cnt) File to be contoured. If a HINT map was calculated interactively, the Map Contour Dialog Box is automatically invoked with the name of the recently created Contour File in this field. Otherwise use the push button to select a SYBYL contour file from disk.

Load
push button
This option loads the named contour file into Sybyl memory by displaying to the text screen a histogram of the contour data. This step is necessary for the Level Calculation algorithms to function.

Display Area
option menu: {D1|D2|D3|D4}
Choose the SYBYL Display Area to contain the graphical information from the contour operation. There are four display areas that allow selective display of background information through use of the SYBYL Display icon. Display Area is read (only) when the Done button is pressed; thus contour information from each application of the Map Contour Dialog Box can only appear in one Display Area.

Style
option menu: {Lines|Opaque|Transparent|Dots}
The Style parameter specifies the type of graphical display for the contours. Not all devices support all formats. Style is read (only) when the Done button is pressed; thus contour information from each application of the Map Contour Dialog Box can appear in only one Style.

Automatic Level Calculator
pushbuttons: {-10%|-20%|-33%|-50%|-75%|+75%|+50%|+33%|+20%|+10%}
Selecting one of these buttons will place a calculated contour level into the Contour Value text box. The buttons -10%, -20%, -33%, -50%, -75% will take thet percentage of the contour minimum value (presumed to be negative); the buttons labelled +75%, +50%, +33%, +20%, +10% will take that percentage of the map maximum value (presumed to be positive). You will then choose a color and press the Accept button to proceed.

Contour Value
field
The Contour Value is the numerical value for the contouring operation. It represents the isopotential to be enclosed by the contour surfaces. Generally, choose a Contour Value that is around 50% of the maximum (or minmum) field value.

Contour Color
color menu
This parameter specifies the color of the contour surface associated with the Contour Value. Press the Accept button for each Contour Value/Contour Color pair that you want rendered. When all pairs have been entered press Done to execute the contour operation.

Accept
push button
Press Accept for each pair of Contour Value/Contour Color parameters that you want rendered. The Number of Defined Levels counts the levels to be rendered and is incremented each time the Accept button is pressed.

Number of Defined Levels
field (disabled)
This field lists the number of Contour Value/Contour Color data pairs that have been defined (by pressing the Accept button). You can not change the parameter in this field, it is for information purposes only.
